(Senior) Associates Patents & Innovation

Due to the strong growth of our patent practice, we are looking for one or more (Senior) Associates for our office in Amsterdam.

About our team

The Patents & Innovation team at Taylor Wessing consists of specialised lawyers and patent attorneys who focus on litigation before the Unified Patent Court (UPC) and national courts. Since the UPC came into effect, we have seen a significant growth in our practice, as some of the most innovative companies involve us in proceedings before various local and regional divisions of the UPC. In these matters, we work closely with our colleagues from other countries (including England, France, and Germany) and with other firms in countries where we do not have patent specialists (such as Italy and Sweden). To manage this growth, we are seeking experienced lawyers and patent attorneys who wish to be active and visible in the UPC.

About the position

As a (Senior) Associate Patents & Innovation, you are responsible for handling files related to patent matters. Together with a partner, you coordinate complex patent cases both nationally and internationally, where you (often jointly) are responsible for directing other colleagues in the (international) team and writing procedural documents. Additionally, you mentor junior staff and actively contribute to the development of the practice. You maintain client relationships and contribute to the further growth of the firm. In this role, you combine substantive depth with entrepreneurship within an ambitious team.

The ideal candidate already has several years of relevant work experience in the field of patent law. For senior staff, at least 6 years of experience in handling patent cases is required. You are familiar with current legal developments. Additionally, you have a commercial and market-oriented mindset and can work well in a team. We are looking for someone who, in addition to substantive work, is keen to contribute to the expansion of the team and the (international) practice. The ability to work independently is essential, but being part of the team is even more important to us. You must possess excellent communication skills, including a good command of the English language, both spoken and written.
