Are you a proactive, well-organised and meticulous UPC Legal Officer? Then we are looking for you!
We are looking for a UPC Legal Officer to join our IP team in Eindhoven or Amsterdam, for 32 to 40 hours per week.
Taylor Wessing is the fastest-growing law firm in the Netherlands. We are an international law firm with a strong focus on sectors such as technology, media, communications, and life sciences. With more than 1,250 lawyers across 27 offices in 17 countries, we advise a broad range of clients, from start-ups to multinationals.
Our Benelux IP team consists of more than 40 professionals dedicated to patent law. We handle a large number of cases before the Unified Patent Court (UPC), and our firm is therefore ranked among the absolute top in this field, both in the Netherlands and internationally.
We offer you a unique opportunity to develop yourself at the highest level within this dynamic area of law and to work closely with international colleagues. You will work on complex patent litigation and contribute to groundbreaking jurisprudence.
As an UPC Legal Officer within the IP practice, you will support the team in handling UPC proceedings. The role includes preparing and analysing procedural documents and relevant case law, as well as reviewing and gathering technical–legal documentation to support ongoing matters. You will assist in drafting pleadings, legal opinions, and strategic analyses for clients. In addition, you will monitor procedural deadlines, maintain contact with the UPC and other involved parties, and ensure accurate file management. In this capacity, you will serve as a crucial link between lawyers, clients, and the UPC in complex international patent matters.
The ideal candidate is proactive, meticulous, well-organised, and has an affinity with intellectual property law. You are able to work both independently and as part of a team, and you possess at least a higher professional (HBO) level of working and thinking. A legal and/or technical educational background is preferred. With strong communication and interpersonal skills, you interact easily with colleagues and clients. Naturally, you have excellent communication skills, including a strong command of the English language, both spoken and written. Experience in patent law is an advantage, but certainly not a requirement.
You will be working at a leading international law firm with an informal working atmosphere, where colleagues work with great enthusiasm and ambition toward further growth both within and outside the Netherlands;
You will have access to various inspiring initiatives, such as our remote-working and Family Matters policies, as well as our vitality workshops and coaches;
You will have ample opportunities for personal development, career progression within the organisation, and to bring out the best in yourself;
You will work alongside colleagues who are passionate about their profession, pragmatic and solution-oriented, and driven to achieve the best possible results for our clients;
Excellent primary and secondary employment benefits, including a competitive salary and 30 days of annual leave (based on full-time employment);
The opportunity to participate in national and international events; and
Weekly office drinks, a vibrant winter party, a well-catered lunch, and much more!
At Taylor Wessing, we are always looking for the best talent, committed to making a valuable contribution to society, and embracing diversity. These core values are reflected in our selection process, with the initial screening conducted entirely anonymously. During the first stage (CV review), our system ensures that all documents and data are fully anonymised.
*Providing a Certificate of Conduct (Verklaring Omtrent Gedrag) based on the legal screening profile may be part of the procedure.
